In the seventies, long before the hip-hop music revolution emerged in the United States, a musical trend from Jamaica called Natty Reggae dominated Jamaica and the known black world. In the little village of Abak Ifia in Nigeria, the youth embraced the Natty revolution with passion.

In the close-family village of Abak Ifia, Ikot Ekpene, Aniekan, a part-time resident must embrace the new cultural trend called Natty Takes Over to belong.

Natty Takes Over is the story of a lifetime relationship between a grandson and grandma. How would a young man balance his family responsibility and generational social calling? He needs a mentor and a guide. He does not need to look any further; his mentor and best friend share the same roof with him, Nne, his grandmother.

But now, Adama, a city diva he met at the disco, seduces him, and his village life will not be the same. The couple has a dream to host the greatest Natty reggae disco in the village. Their only problem is the approval of the religious zealot, Pastor Mbakara, a village councilman. It will take a village to put on the greatest show ever.

What transpires here are a series of events that reveal the strength and passion among a united youth consciousness. Somewhere in the middle of these events, Aniekan discovers love and the wisdom of a family matriarch.
